  10. Additional Questions
  1. Am I eligible to vote with an advance ballot?

Yes, all registered Kansas voters are eligible to vote with an advance ballot.

  2. Why vote with an advance ballot?

Advance voting is an easy way to avoid lines on Election Day and is available to any registered voter.  You can have an advance ballot mailed to you so you can vote from the comfort of your own home.  Advance ballots make it possible for those who are traveling, or unable to leave their homes to exercise their right to vote.  This is especially beneficial to the elderly, members of the military, second shift workers and college students.

  3. I've already filled out an advance ballot request. When will I be receiving my ballot?

If you've already completed an advance ballot request you do not need to complete another one. You can confirm that your advance ballot was received by using the Kansas Secretary of State's VoterView page.

  4. What happens after I return this application?

Completing and returning an advanced ballot application will let your local County Election Office know that you would like to receive a ballot by mail. Ballots will be mailed to voters starting Wednesday, October 15th.  You will receive a ballot some time after that. Your completed ballot must be received by your County Election Office by 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday November 4th.

  5. The info on the mailer I received is wrong, what do I do?

If information that is printed on the advanced ballot mailer that you received is incorrect you can carefully cross it out and write in the correct information or print and return a new form.

  6. What if I don't know my Ward/Pct/Twp?

You are not required to provide your Ward, Precinct or Township. If you don't know this information, leave it blank.

  7. Do I need to include my Social Security number and driver's license number?

Yes, you need to include either the last four digits of your Social Security number or your entire Kansas driver's license number if you are a first time voter in the county listed. If you have previously voted in the county you are registered in, you do not need to include this information.

  8. Can my friends and family vote in advance also?

Yes. Every eligible voter can vote in advance.  If you have Democratic friends and family who are unable or unwilling to go vote on Election Day encourage them to vote by printing out some advance voting applications and encouraging them to fill them out.

  9. Are there other ways to vote in advance besides through the mail?

Yes. Kansas law allows for registered voters to vote in advance both by mail and in-person. You can contact your County Election Office to find out more about advance in-person voting.  In-person advance voting is available from October 20th - November 3rd.
