This past week, the National Republican Campaign Committee added 15 names to a list of their most vulnerable members of Congress. Found on that list was none other than freshman Congresswoman Lynn Jenkins from Kansas's 2nd district.
Of course, it's no surprise that Jenkins is vulnerable.
Since being elected she's spent so much time in Washington she couldn't attend many of the town hall meetings her own staff schedule for her throughout the Kansas 2nd District.
As troubling is the bitter partisanship Jenkins has embraced since taking office. Just last week, she told a group of Republicans she was "proud to be a member of the "party of no" and vowed never to work with Congressional Democrats.
Her vulnerability could easily be remedied by spending more time with constituents in Kansas and joining the bi-partisan efforts to fix our economy and broken health care system. Instead, she's staking her re-election on the Washington insiders she's quickly grown so close with. It's unfortunate that she she's chosen a partisan remedy which makes her even more reliant upon Washington's special interests.
