KS Veterans for Obama Chair: “Obama the Right Choice for Veterans”

The following is a column from Kansas Veterans for Obama Chair Ed Outlaw:

John McCain’s survival as a P.O.W. is honorable, but he should not be elected President just because of it. Our next President should be ready to lead our military, honor our veterans, and secure a bright future for our children and grandchildren. That’s why I’m voting for Barack Obama. John McCain voted against veterans’ health care, against funding the VA for wounded soldiers, and didn’t bother to show up to vote for making sure combat veterans can obtain a college education. Barack Obama has received an 80% rating from the DAV, recognizes the physical and mental needs of combat vets, and has supported increased benefits to military families. Our President is not just Commander-in-Chief dealing with defense against terrorists, but also the Chief Executive, dealing with the domestic issues of healthcare, education, social security, and veterans’ issues. Barack Obama understands the needs of veterans, children, the elderly, the poor and homeless, and the middle class taxpayer from experience. Emotions will run high during the next few weeks, but it is important to vote with an informed mind. After looking closely at the policy positions of both candidates, I am choosing to vote for Barack Obama. I ask you to join me this Nov. 4th. Respectfully, CH (COL) William E. (Ed) Outlaw, USA (retired) Vietnam Vet (1969-70)
