Last Friday Republican Congressman from Ohio, Bob Ney, agreed to plead guilty to two criminal charges tied to the congressional corruption scandal involving lobbyist Jack Abramoff. The national attention on the ongoing corruption investigations has not forgotten about Kansas.
Here in Kansas, Democrats have begun a to hold our own Abramoff-linked Congressman Jim Ryun accountable: www.ksdp.org/runawayryun.
Over the past year, the depth of the Republican Culture of Corruption has continued to grow - reaching districts in California, Texas and now Ohio. From disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff to indicted Congressman Tom DeLay, the Republicans have proven that they have brought a Culture of Corruption to Washington.
As the Culture of Corruption in Washington becomes ever more apparent, our own home grown connections have come to light.
Jim Ryun has taken over $31,000 from the political action committee of Congressman Tom DeLay. The money given to Ryun has ranked him as one of DeLay,s "Top Five Cronies" by the Public Campaign Action Fund. Despite the growing scandal, he has refused to return the money.
Democrats across the state have urged Jim Ryun to agree to a public debate broadcast to a wide audience. Citing a "busy schedule," Ryun has agreed to only two limited appearances and one taped interview. He makes no plans to explain his participation in the ongoing scandal in a live debate that would be accessible to his constituents.
Express your discontent with Ryun by signing a petition at www.ksdp.org/runawayryun and request that he come clean with his constituents and the people of Kansas.
How long must Kansans wait to hear the truth about Ryun,s involvement?
