Meet the Staff
Jason Perkey, Executive Director
Joined the Kansas Democratic Party as Executive Director in January 2012. A native of Louisville, KY, Jason comes to Kansas having worked on presidential, gubernatorial, congressional, state legislative, and municipal campaigns in Kentucky, Illinois, and Virginia. In 2010, Perkey managed one of only two races won by a Democratic candidate over a Republican incumbent in Kentucky, as well as managing one of the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee's Essential Top 20 "Must Win" races. In 2008, Perkey left his career litigating National Security Whistleblower Protection Act cases in Washington, D.C., responding to President Barack Obama's call to action by joining Barack Obama's presidential campaign as an organizer in Central Virginia. Perkey earned a political science degree from Coker College in Hartsville, S.C. and a law degree from Vermont Law School. In addition to being the KDP ED, Perkey serves as President of the Association of State Democratic Executive Directors and is a Poitical Partner for the Truman National Security Project. He also played golf professionally, competing in golf tournaments in both the United States and Europe.
Dakota Loomis, Communications Director
Joined the Kansas Democratic Party as Director of Communications in February of 2012. A Kansas native, Dakota has served in multiple Democratic elected officials' offices, most recently spending three years as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Shawnee County District Attorney Chad Taylor . Dakota previously served as the Director of Research under Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius and in Kansas Attorney General Paul Morrison’s Civil Law Division. Loomis earned a political science degree from Carleton College in Northfield, MN and his Juris Doctor from New York University School of Law. He did not play golf professionally in the United States, Europe, or anywhere else for that matter.
Joined the Kansas Democratic Party as Hispanic Outreach and Field Director in August 2013. Carlos was born in Mexico, but has lived most of his life in Seattle, WA. Having always had a passion for politics, Carlos started his professional career working as Legislative Assistant for Congressman Howard Berman but caught the campaign bug and left to help Sen. Maria Cantwell’s reelection in 2006, as a field organizer. In 2008, Lugo also served as Director for the Washington State Democrats’ Latino Vote Project and acted as spokesman for the Party’s Hispanic outreach efforts. Most recently, he served as Field Director for newly-elected congressman Derek Kilmer’s campaign, supervising the construction and management of the most effective and praised congressional field organization in the state of Washington. Carlos earned a Bachelors degree in Politics from Brandeis University and a Masters in International Affairs from the American University of Paris. Although he swam competitively for most of his school life, Carlos identifies himself as a Political Affairs nerd and you will usually find him reading the news or books about policy, campaigns etc. These days, however, the majority of his spare time is spent with his wife and daughter.
Mollie Moravac, Fundraising Director
Joined the Kansas Democratic Party as Fundraising Director in May of 2012. Mollie is a recent grad of the University of Kansas where she earned a degree in political science. Before coming to the KDP Mollie considered careers in interior design, photography, and even becoming a pastry chef. So our offices at the KDP are fully Feng Shui, we have great pictures, and cupcakes once a week. She is also an active member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. Mollie is a native Kansan who has lived in Shawnee, Kansas her whole life.
Joined the Kansas Democratic Party as Political Director in July of 2013. Kerry is a recent graduate of Kansas State University where he earned a degree in political science. Before joining the KDP, Kerry spent a year working in governmental relations, helping to institue a successful wind energy grassroots campaign and supporting legislation before the Kansas Legislature. At the same time, Kerry served as the Finance Intern for the Kansas Democratic Party, assisting in statewide fundraising efforts and capitol campaigns. Kerry is a Wichita-native and is easily the best dressed KDP staff member.
