Carlos Lugo, Hispanic Outreach And Field Director

Joined the Kansas Democratic Party as Hispanic Outreach and Field Director in August 2013.  Carlos was born in Mexico, but has lived most of his life in Seattle, WA.  Having always had a passion for politics, Carlos started his professional career working as Legislative Assistant for Congressman Howard Berman but caught the campaign bug and left to help Sen. Maria Cantwell’s reelection in 2006, as a field organizer. In 2008, Lugo also served as Director for the Washington State Democrats’ Latino Vote Project and acted as spokesman for the Party’s Hispanic outreach efforts.  Most recently, he served as Field Director for newly-elected congressman Derek Kilmer’s campaign, supervising the construction and management of the most effective and praised congressional field organization in the state of Washington.  Carlos earned a Bachelors degree in Politics from Brandeis University and a Masters in International Affairs from the American University of Paris. Although he swam competitively for most of his school life, Carlos identifies himself as a Political Affairs nerd and you will usually find him reading the news or books about policy, campaigns etc.  These days, however, the majority of his spare time is spent with his wife and daughter.
