"Straight Talk" from McCain?
More like kinda late talk from McCain!
John McCain says he is for transparency in government - but just like his policies against campaign finance reform and earmarks - McCain thinks transparency and honesty apply to everyone but himself.
After weeks of pressure from the media, McCain finally released his tax returns.
The returns don't tell the whole story, though. McCain's lifestyle is largely financed by his wife's wealth; she has been estimated to have holdings worth roughly $100 million. Most of her money stems from a family fortune.
And - of course - his campaign chose not to make public any of his wife's tax returns. Additionally, he only released his own returns from the last two years!
McCain should subject himself to the same level of transparency already set by both Democratic candidates who have released their full tax returns from ALL their years in the Senate. What do the McCains have in the tax fillings that they don't want the American people to see?
So, I guess we'll still have to "await talk" from McCain to find out if he really believes in open and honest government, or if this is just another "but not me" moment.
