Karl Rove, John McCain’s “unofficial” campaign adviser and chief political adviser to President Bush, was in Wichita today (no doubt giving vote-caging advice to Kris Kobach.)
Now acting as a Fox "News" correspondent, Rove denies he is involved with McCain's campaign...which is, of course, a lie. Just ask McCain!
In February, McCain praised Rove on CNN, saying:
“I've always respected Karl Rove as one of the great smart political minds in American politics. I've always respected him…And any information or advice and counsel he can give us, I'd be glad to have.”
McCain has worked to convince voters he’s against the influence of lobbyists in politics. But in February, the Washington Post reported,
“…when McCain huddled with his closest advisers at his rustic Arizona cabin last weekend to map out his presidential campaign, virtually every one was part of the Washington lobbying culture he has long decried.”
And, although McCain has publicly chastised independent lobbying groups commonly referred to as 527’s, calling them “a natural extension of the increasing corruption in American politics,” he is saying nothing about Karl Rove’s efforts to create and oversee several 527 lobbying groups to spend $100 million dollars in aid of McCain's presidential bid. (As reported on the Hotline Blog on nationaljournal.com, 4/18/08.)
Do you think McCain got Rove for free when he sold out to the Bush administration?
Have you ever ventured into your local used good...
