About

Senator Greta Goodwin, of Winfield, has been a Cowley County resident her entire life. She attended both Cowley County Community College and Wichita State University before earning National Certification as a Legal Assistant.
Goodwin worked in the banking industry for nearly 15 years and 22 years in the legal profession, in addition to serving as an adjunct faculty member at Cowley County Community College.

Senator Goodwin served in the Kansas House of Representatives for two terms before being elected to the Kansas Senate in 1996. As a member of the Public Finance Transparency Board, Goodwin has helped develop a new Web site to assist the public in accessing state budget information. During the 2008 legislative session, Senator Goodwin also fought to improve resources to law enforcement officers and to strengthen stalking laws in Kansas.

Senator Goodwin is the Ranking Minority Member on the Senate Judiciary Committee. She also serves as a member of the Senate Ways and Means Committee, the Joint Corrections and Juvenile Justice Oversight Committee, the Joint State Building Construction Committee, the Confirmation Oversight Committee, and the Joint Corrections and Juvenile Justice Oversight Committee.

In addition to her legislative duties, she also serves on the boards of the Kansas Department of Corrections, Winfield Community Relations, Parents as First Teachers Advisory, as well as council member of the Reach Preschool Developmental Center.

Goodwin and her husband, Jim, have been married for more than 40 years and are the parents of four children and nine grandchildren.
