Freightquote moving headquarters, jobs from Kansas to Missouri
TOPEKA - Kansas Democratic Party Chair Joan Wagnon released the following statement regarding today’s announcement that Freightquote, America’s largest online freight shipping broker, is relocating its headquarters from Lenexa, KS to Kansas City, Missouri:
“Today’s announcement by Freightquote sends a direct message to Governor Sam Brownback and other Kansas state leaders that their priorities are creating instability in the Kansas business community and causing employers to leave Kansas.”
“Employers need trained, educated employees who they can trust to run their companies – Governor Brownback and conservative Republicans cut $18,000 out of every Kansas classroom.”
“Employers need quality, advanced infrastructure to efficiently run their operations – Brownback and conservative Republicans have repeatedly raided our highway fund.”
“And most importantly, employers need a stable, predictable business environment that allows entrepreneurs to capitalize on growth opportunities and create new jobs – Brownback and conservative Republicans’ tax plan threatens Kansas’ long-term stability by placing an ever growing burden on middle-class Kansans.”
“The decision by Freightquote to leave Kansas shows that tax cuts alone will not grow the Kansas economy. By passing a reckless tax bill that will cripple Kansas public education and infrastructure, Governor Brownback and his supporters in the Kansas legislature have demonstrated that they care more about giving tax breaks to special interests and the rich than making Kansas a place where an employer will want to locate her business.”
