Bill Richardson served in Congress for 15 years and helped pass the economic plan that created millions of jobs and led to the first balanced budget in 30 years.
As Secretary of Energy and Governor of New Mexico, he implemented tough efficiency standards to save energy and move toward renewable resources.
Richardson negotiated the release of hostages, American servicemen and political prisoners in North Korea, Iraq, and Cuba. Because of this diplomatic work, he was nominated four times for the Nobel Peace Prize and served as Ambassador to the UN.
Richardson has been married to his high school sweetheart, Barbara, for 35 years.
